I'm entranced by the images created by Seung-Hwan OH in his Impermanence series. Aptly named, he shoots medium format, positive film and then soaks them with a variety of microbes.
I adore the Playing House/Life Once Removed project by Suzanne Heintz. Posing herself with her mannequin nuclear family during holidays and vacations. Deliberately fabricated and over the top, the series strikes a perfect balance of humor and intelligence.
OMG Literally Dead is a brilliant parody Instagram account mocking this alternate use of the word. The account documents the adventures of Skellie, a life size skeleton, who emulates common self portrait poses. Smart and clever, OMG Literally Dead pokes fun at the vanity selfie phenomenon.
Photographs Rendered in Play-Doh is one of my favorite blogs. Eleanor Macnair recreates both historical and modern photographs using Play-Doh. Fun and playful, these colorful creations are a joy to look at. She posts lost of in progress shots over on her Instagram.
Dan Raven takes beautiful architectural photos and I especially love his images of abandoned places. These are all from his Flickr set The Doctor's House.
I'm following Javier Peréz over on Instagram. I shared his En Puntas piece last October, which I still love, but his Instagram account is full of whimsical photos that use everyday objects in unique, creative ways.
I can't get enough of Cornelia Hediger's Doppelgänger series of self portraits. Placing herself in the frame multiple times creates a visual representation of an internal dialog. There are dozens between the two series so click through to her website and check them all out!
Yasumasa Morimura ia a brilliant appropriation artist, often playing with traditional feminist icons by imitating famous women. Although he focuses on famous women – artists, actresses, singers – he plays with a few famous men as well.
Tommy Ingberg creates elaborate, surrealist photographs that illustrate feelings. His imagery reminds me of a combination of Magritte and Uhlesman while still feeling contemporary and modern.
