I got to visit Alcatraz again last Saturday! This time it was with First Exposures, the awesome photo organization I volunteer with and we got to see the Ai WeiWei exhibit.
A free 90 minutes on a gorgeous sunny day in Oakland. West Oakland is vibrant neighborhood that's full of color. If you follow me on Tumblr, Twitter, or Facebook you have seen a few of via Instagram. Oh, by the way, did I mention that I'm addicted to Instagram? I post at least one image every day and if I'm out and about usually more.
My awesome brother-in-law, Matthew, came to town for his job and was staying in the Fisherman's Wharf area. So of course we went to hang out with him and wander around this scenic part of San Francisco. I think that this is the first time I have walked out to the very end of Aquatic Park Pier. The view from there is amazing!
Pier 14 offers great views of the Bay Bridge and the Bay Lights installation by Leo Villareal and the new exhibit of Soma by Flaming Lotus Girls. I took a few still photos while shooting a video story on Soma for The Outsider – click over and check it out!
Sorry for the delay, I was crazy busy last week, so this blog was a bit neglected. The final set of photos from Treasure Island with the Bay Bridge as the star. I'll catch you up soon!
A recent trip to Treasure Island with the First Exposures program was great fun and I took so many pictures, I'll have to split them up into a few posts. I'll start with some general photos to get a feel for the island and it's surroundings.
I mentioned the story I did for The Outsider about the installation of the giant pink triangle on the top of Twin Peaks. I had to take a few beauty shots of San Francisco as Frank the fog begins his retreat.
I went sailing on the bay! Another fun outing with First Exposures! My Uncle Dave has a sail boat, but I haven't been on it since in high school. Also this was my first time ever being on the bay in a boat that wasn't a ferry. We sailed past the Golden Gate Bridge and then around Alcatraz in a two hour tour.
I have never been to the beautiful buildings and grounds at The Palace of Fine Arts. I went with First Exposures and I already want to go back with more cameras and maybe a model or two... any volunteers?
