These black and white photographs are acheived with a long shutter speed, a moving model, and at least one flash. I've been shooting with multiple formats, from 35mm to 4x5, but always with traditional black and white film. I scan the negatives and use Photoshop for burning, dodging, and spotting. None of the effects are created digitally and a very light touch is used in order to maintain the beauty of film.
Each photograph represents one of the characters in the I Ching. Portraying spiritual ethereal ideas is created by pushing the variables of time and movement.
