Surrounded by the San Francisco bay, the Albany Bulb is one of my favorite places to shoot photos, movies, and just for general adventuring. I have already made a short run artist book, La Sonámbula, with images from the Bulb. These pictures were taken with my little point and shoot, quickly sorted, and printed double sided on a very soft 100% cotton paper. I did take the time to print the more random pictures on the backs so the more figurative images could be complete.
I've been experimenting with the longstitch lately and thought I would try a fairly complicated pattern with a piece of soft distressed leather that I had around. This is not a great combination. This pattern has too many holes and is too complicated for this leather especially since the leather is so flexible it moves around a lot and it was really hard to see the holes. The basic idea is good and I'm happy with the result. Lesson learned: simple patterns work better with this leather and the pattern might have been more effective if I had followed the less is more rule.
