Although I make a lot of books, they are all self published, printed and hand bound. For the first time ever, I'm testing self published books that are printed and bound not in house. The first book I'm testing in this new to me format is La Sonámbula. Clearly some challenges exist. First of all the hand bound books are coptic stitched which is not an option. Also this book is printed on cotton and vellum. The cotton is soft and a little fuzzy and the vellum overlays change the pictures underneath as you look through the book.
In many ways, I'm creating an entirely new book from the same images. I'm a little conflicted, but time will tell if it's a successful medium for me.
