Seventh Grade is a beautifully shot short film that's a coming of age story of… wait for it… a young black girl. I know, I know! It's such a great film and reminded me of being that age. The age where sex and Barbies are both relevant. I remember being over at a friend's house playing dolls -- at this age it was more about my dolls humping each other. I remember listening to my friend talk about sex and thinking that was so far beyond what I was interested in. It's not that I wasn't boy-crazy, but I just wasn't ready for that! I don't usually post traditional narritive films here on my blog, but this film is definitely a must watch!
