Red Threads of Fire

I look at a lot of pictures and read a lot of blogs.

This week I noticed that I had three very different images up that all spoke to an internal, visceral place inside.

The first was this Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD)

APOD Spircules Jets on the Sun by K Reardon

Spicules: Jets on the Sun

by K. Reardon (Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri, INAF) IBIS, DST, NSO

It's like looking at the embers glowing at the bottom of a fire, but the scale is massive. I get lost in the fractal fires spiraling into black heat.

Then there was this promotional video for The Marmalade featured at SLR Lounge

I would love to play with that camera. Their informative sections are nice, although I could just watch the footage because it's mesmerizing.

Finally, I found Frederic Fontenoy's photographic series Alkama over at Co.DESIGN. Milk and blood. Fluids of life, swirling in eddies

Menstrual blood and mothers milk. Injuries and bandages. White waves of life crashing on red, rocky shores. They leave me breathless.
