I am just blown away by this gorgeous embroidery by Michelle Kingdom. A child of the seventies, this style of embroidery reminds me of wall hangings and pillows of that era. It also brings back fond memories of my Southern Aunts, my Gram, and my Great Grandma; Sewing, needlepoint, cross stitch, and weaving were always around and I even learned to sandblast glass from my Aunt April. My Great Grandma had a giant loom that was the size of a baby grand piano and it filled her entire living room. My mom is also a talented maker -- she can draw, crochet, needlepoint, and a ton of other things. Kingdom embraces all of this with her gorgeous work and brings it into the fine art world. Her subject matter is psychologically complex tales. It was extremely difficult to choose images for this post, so definitely click over to her website and check out more of her work!
