A beautiful spot in San Francisco and part of the massive Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Fort Funston features dense woods, dune covered coastline and ruins.
This was a working fort from 1900 to 1963 including being a Nike Missle site. Abandoned batteries and turrets dot the coastlines in California and I love to explore them.
I have only been there one time with my friend Paula and two cute dogs she was walking and I can't wait for a return visit.
