Camera Motion Review

Thursday is normally post about an artist that inspires me, but today I thought I would try something different. I download and try almost every free Android camera app out there, so I thought I would share my impressions and some results. Camera Motion is app made by Fingersoft that has an free version and an add-free version at the low, low price of $1.33.

I'm running Android version 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) on a myTouch Q by LG.

What works well

I found the navigation intuitive: a left slider controls the zoom and a right slider controls how much blur.

You can turn on and off the flash and prioritize "blur everything", "blur dark objects", and "blur light objects". The save button serves as a trigger of sorts.

All of these are taken from the BART train, but on different days. I like a lot of blur, so mine are not zoomed, on maximum blur, with the "blur everything" option selected.

What could be better

Switching the orientation doesn't work with my OS and/or hardware. It doesn't really affect my ability to use the camera, but I keep expecting it to work. I have no idea what the first button is supposed to do. It brings up a pop up box that lists my other cameras. That may be the intention, but it's not really clear and it's not functionality that I expect or need.

My biggest complaint is that it seems to max out at 480 wide. Since I often use my camera phone for artist book and photo printing fodder, that just isn't big enough. FYI- I upsized the photos you see here.
