These two dancers and a violin player improvised their way through UN Plaza during the San Francisco Art Market a couple of times while I was selling blank books. A long stitch book with heavy fibrous covers and inkjet photos mounted on creamy laid heavy paper inside.
A series of photographs taken early one rainy morning in the Mission. I always love the way that the rain makes everything brighter and shinier. A coptic bound book with ink jet photos mounted on black heavy paper with soft black paper wrapped covers. The beautiful marbled end pages remind me of ripples in puddles.
I downloaded this fun tool called IOGraph that visualizes your work as your mouse moves around the screen. These black scribbles are the results of work over the week. The book is coptic bound and the covers are wrapped with images from the series and waxed orange endpages.
The images in this coptic bound book are all taken with the FX Camera application on my Andriod phone. I was dismissive of the symmetricam feature and then fell in love with the kaleidoscopic patterns. All the images are close up of my fingers taken while commuting. The images are mounted on black paper and the covers are wrapped with this same paper.
While participating in the SF Art Market at UN Plaza, I was mesmerized by the sheer amount of stuff caught in the drainage grate. Gum and other trash was joined by lots of Phillips head screws and even a red lego piece. I took photos of the entire grate and made a long, skinny, one sided accordion book.
More pictures using my cell phone camera and the toy camera application. The images in this book are made with hard pinhole with warm tones. The weird vignetting and color shifting makes for some very interesting images.
This round of pictures is also taken around my neighborhood, but I was purposefully taking some very abstract images because of extra surreal coloring. Many of the moon like photos are simply cracks in asphalt near my BART station.
Another week using the toy camera application on my phone and exploring the variety of effects.. The images in this book are made with soft and medium vignetting and the cross process green settings. The weird vignetting and color shifting makes for some very interesting images. Also finding that the camera can focus much closer than I expected. These images are mainly taken in the couple of blocks around my neighborhood in El Cerrito or from the BART train.
