Ode to Tzara
I have an entire side of my fridge covered in word magnets. These surrealist toys have become so common I know Tzara would be thrilled! I love the spontaneity of this random, chaotic art form so much my most recent script comes from a collaged word poem- more on that project later...
Playing with my cell phone that I'm using like a digital toy camera I took a bunch of very close pictures of these magnets and fairly randomly printed them out on cardstock and vellum papers. The pages are arranged into 1 and 2 page signatures are simply pamphlet stitched with alternating colors of thread into covers. The covers were a background for a group letterpress poster that I composed with some help from the amazing designer Owen Troy. A die cut circle in the front cover invites you in.
